Short film CR

 

Our short film Possessed has a lot of connections with some social groups and issues. This short film has a lot to do with peer pressure and how this connects with younger people, in the begging of our short film a group of friend peer pressure one of the friends and make her face her fears. Our short film represents some social groups. Mainly teens/young people because our whole cast in the short film are teens. Younger people tend to enjoy horror movies more than older people. We also advertised our short film on all social medias so a lot of younger people will probably see it. In our short film our main issue that we include is peer pressure. Peer pressure is when someone pressures another person to do something they don’t want to do, but the person is too afraid to say no, or the teen wants to try and fit in with the crowd. This happens a lot in the real world and it could lead to bad things. An example of this is in our short film If the friend group didn’t peer pressure Ava into going into the house then she wouldn’t have found the mirror and she would have never gotten possessed. Another issue that our short film possesses is unity and coming together. In our film Morgan and Jake have to come together and figure out how to stop Ava.  Unity is one of the strongest components in life. So its always good to work together as a team.

 

When filming our movie/ short film we wanted to make sure that our elements in the movie could work together to create a sense of ‘branding’. We wanted everything to connect in some way. We used quite a few elements in our movie that are now branded. One element that we used is the mirror. The mirror was one of the main brand elements that we used in our movie. In our movie Ava finds the mirror and when finding the mirror, she picks it up and ends up getting possessed by the mirror. Also, in the Main picture of our movie and our profile picture for all our social medias it is a mirror with a spirit coming out of it. So, when people think of our movie the first thing that they think of is the mirror. As we know our movie is a horror movie, and all horror movies tend to be dark and have creepy sounds and have dark low lighting. In our movie we kept the theme of having dark lighting and having spooky sounds. That’s another part of our branding is having all those basic horror movie techniques. Another technique we used for our branding was the friend who got possessed. We used her getting possessed to create our movie name “possessed”. This is another main branding source that we used we also used pictures of the friend getting possessed and we used this for our postcard and we used it and posted it on our social medias.

 

In our short film we made sure that the audience felt like they were in the horror movie with us. We wanted to engage with our audience and give them the full horror experience. One of the ways we did this was by having a lot of tracking shots in our film. A tracking shot is any shot where the camera follows forward, backward, or moves alongside the person being recorded. This allows the audience to feel like they are following one the characters. In the short film we filmed Ava walking up to the possessed mirror. We used the tracking method for this shot, we shot her back as she was walking up to the mirror, this creates a feeling in the audience that they are behind Ava. We also do a tracking shot in the beginning when they first come into the house. We made a shot where Jake and Morgan go one way, and the camera follows them to a certain point, then it goes back to Ava and Alex walking over to some old paintings. We tracked them from the side, when walking over and when they get to the paintings it pans to their back. We do this quite a few times in our film because we really want our audience to feel like they are there with us. Another method we use to make our audience feel connected and with us is when we did a Point of View when Ava chokes Alex. This makes the audience feel like they are about to get choked.

 

When researching for our products we did some research on different horror movies. We wanted to look at different horror movies, so we could use some skills on our movie. When researching and looking at different horror movies we saw some thing that we wanted to include in our movie. We saw some thing that almost every horror movie included in their movie and some of those things were creepy sounds or noises, abandoned places or house that the characters go into, dark lighting, and either monsters spirits or murders were the main conflict in the movie. After we saw all these things that they included we decided to use these skills. So, in our movie we used a lot of dark lighting. we did this by filming at night, filming at night was one of the best choices we made. Filming at night really gave the movie a creepy and eerie feeling to the movie. It was a little difficult because sometimes the lighting wasn’t that good, but in the end filming at night was a good choice. When editing our movie, we made sure to use a lot of creepy sounds and music. The music in a horror movie is important it makes the audience get an eerie feeling. The next element that we used was filming at an abandon house. We made one of our houses look and feel abandoned. It was one of the best choices that we made.

Final Re-filming

 Hello today I will be talking about our re-filming and re-editing process. So we found out that our movie was too short. So we needed to come up with some ideas to make it longer. So when we found it out we all decided to call. We called to think of ideas together. When we called we thought of a few ideas. One of the ideas was to film more possessed clips. Just because there weren’t enough in the original.  We also decided to film more clips of us walking in the haunted house. This is because we didn’t get enough in the original. We also realized that the walking in clips weren’t shot right. So we had to make sure that the angels were right. So we went over to jakes house to film. Once we got there we got on our costumes. Once we got on our costumes we put on our makeup. We first did the filming the coming back inside. We had to take a few shots. But once we did it a few times we got it. Then we did the possessed shot and that went good. So everything went awesome!

Updated social media

 Hello today I will be talking about our social media. Specifically how we updated our social media. Our social media is very important. It tells our audience about our movie. When it’s coming out, who’s in it. It also lets people know a little more about the movie. We have every social media there is. So we can attract more people by making them our audience. So we always have to keep it updated and post so we can always remind them. That’s what professional movies do so that’s what we’re going to do. Some things that we need to post are our cast. Our cast is one of the most important things. This is because it shows everyone who’s in the film. We also need to post the dates it will be showing. To let people know when it will be available for them. We will also post about who edited and directed the film. This is to show who created and give them credit. We all did it so we would just put our names. Finally we will be posting little clips from the movie. Just to give sneak peeks to keep people interested.

Re-filming

 Hello today I will be talking about our re-filming journey. So we started editing and it was going great. But while watching we noticed something. We were looking at the scenes and we realized that we didn’t film some scenes. So we had to make plans to re film. Which was going to be difficult because of Morgan. Since she just got a surgery it would be different for her. So we had to figure out how we could do it so Morgan can be in it too. So we decided to film the parts where Morgan isn’t in them. Just so we can give Morgan more time to heal. So when we decided that then we had to decide when we were going to film. So we took some time to figure out everyone’s schedule. Once we figured it out we got a date for filming. After we got the date we had to figure out if we needed props. If we needed props we had to figure out how to get them. After we figured out the props we went to get them.  We needed the mirror which we had and a flashlight. So we got the flashlights. After we got our props it was time to film. So we went over to jakes house to do the re- filming.

Adding in music

 Hello today I will be talking about music. Well music in our film. I will also be talking about the importance it is in movies. Music really makes a movie especially in horror. So when we were think of music we had to do some research. We look at other horror movies to see what type of music they play. When looking at it they all play eerie music. This is to add an uneasy feeling in the audience. Adding eerie music really makes the audience feel the mood. The creators made eerie music to make people feel worried while watching or uneasy. Another sound that horror movies use is ominous orchestras. This is another great sound that people put in horror movies. There are so many great options to put into the movie. Which is crazy because I never knew how many music options there were for horror. But that gives us a lot of options to choose from. So we had to do some research for the music. We had to see which eerie type of music would fit our movie the best. So we looked up movies like ours. Like Annabelle and other spirit related horror films. To see what type of music they had. They all had eerie music so we looked up some eerie music to put in our film.

Editing begins

 Hello today I will be talking about editing. Specifically our editing for our movie. Since we finished up our filming we decided that’s it time to start the editing. Mostly planning the editing, but also starting it. We also just want to see what would look best with our film. So we are going to try a couple of thing to see what would look best. After we do that I think we are going to look back on our old movie. This is to see what we did last year. To see how we can make our new one even better. We would do this buy seeing what techniques we used last year. Also how we used them and what parts we used them. Then we would think about how we could make it better. Then we would start our process. So for our editing process we would all send the clips of the movie to each other. This is because we all took clips on our phones. Because this takes up a lot of storage. We want to make sure we had enough storage for the whole movie. Then we are going to put them together. Then we are going to add any effects or cut stuff if we need too. Then we are going to rewatch it and see if there is anything else that we need to add.
