Audiences and Institutions essay

Marketing is essential when it comes to making a film. It's the way it gets out to the people so they can watch the film. It's also the money put towards the ads and what platform they are going to put the ad out. It’s a necessity for the film world because it decides what cinemas it will be showing at and the release timing of a film. The success or failure of the marketing campaign of a film will have a huge influence on the profitability of the film. The key elements of any film marketing campaign include posters, the unique selling point of a poster promises a unique film and may appear special to the viewer. Most viewers need to be presented with something new and fresh because that grabs the viewers' attention and reals them in to see the movie.
One film that really caught people's attention was the movie Black panther. One of the main wayto successfully market a movie is to make something that will grab people's attention, and this was one movie that everyone was excited for. They created this emotion of excitement in people by making teasers and trailers that were everywhere. This includes social media ads would pop on Instagram and twitter, snapchat, and even Facebook. They also put out posters on billboards and more ads on TV. They wanted to make sure that everyone knew about this film, and through all this marketing excitement grew among the whole world. There was also a special premiering to show off the movie even more.
Another film that really caught people’s eyes was the movie Jurassic World everyone loved the classic Jurassic Park and they didn’t think the other ones would be as good, but directors created a Jurassic world and people were really intrigued to see what this movie was about. Everyone was so anxious to see the trailer for this movie so when everyone saw it, the trailer blew up with views. This movie had a lot of marketing, the movie partnered with Legos to make a Lego set of the Jurassic World set. All the kids loved it and that was another way to market their movie. So if families didn’t see it yet and the kids bought the toy they would ask their parents to see the movie.
An additional movie that really stood out was Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2Everyone loved the first movie and were really hoping that there would be a 2nd one. People were so excited when Marvel put out the sequel teaser. After people saw that the hype just kept growing and growing, something that helped that was a Super bowl commercial and mix tape poster reveal. There were also other marketing skills like they partnered up with Doritos and they made a Guardians of the galaxy Doritos bag. This really helped the hype of this movie to keep growing. The hype was so big that when they finally released the movie on the first weekend, they had already made $427 million.
Again, with this movie The Lego Movie Part 2, all the kids around the world were excited to see this movie and were excited to see the trailer when it came out. The kids were getting excited because of the ads on the TV and the poster they would see on the billboards when they were in their cars. They also made Lego sets about the second movie and it was a really big thing. The second movie didn’t do so good but most of the kids that saw it were really happy.
Overall Marketing is a huge thing in the movie/ film industry and its very important. There is also a lot of elements that make up the marketing process and  we have to know what they are. And its always good to learn about thing like this in the filming world because a lot of elements make up the filming world and its good to share it.

Practice essay for 24 extract

In this extract there are many camera angles, shots, movements along with, editing skills, and  sounds, and the interesting mis en scenethese all come together to make a mysterious and confutative story that show that there is no trust and one must decide if trust is more important than power and it shows the tense investigation that they have to go through and it creates this cliff hanger to see if he trusted her or if they wouldn’t trust her because they wanted to keep their pride and power.
As we know there are many aspects that make up this extract and I am going to be talking a little more about them individually. So, the first one is lighting the lighting is one of the main parts of setting the mood for the extract. The lighting in movies usually set the mood for the scene and from this extract the lighting was more on the dark to dim side because of the tension of the scene. In the scene the detective and the lady were arguing about the bomb and stopping it. This showed a lot of trust issues and the lighting really helped the viewers get that tension feeling with this lighting. The next thing is the close up this happened a lot throughout the extract most of the camera shots were closeup and this really helped the scene to be the best it could be because it showed how intense the conversation was and it happened a lot on the detective because he was the one who was getting very angry and frustrated with the girl. It went on the girl a little to show that she was no bothered by his anger and that made him even more frustrated and the fact that she wouldn’t stop the bomb really got to him. Another thing is the split screen this was a good one because this happened when  the detective chocked the girl because he was getting so frustrated and angry at her, and it showed the reaction of the girl getting chocked and it showed the reaction the people watching the interview and it shows them freaking out and running in there to try and stop him from doing that. I really liked the idea of the split screen because I liked how it showed the reaction of the people watching it and right beside that was the reaction of the girl.
The next thing is the shot reverse shot this happened a lot throughout the extract and it happened when the detective and the girl were arguing about whether or not he could trust her or is he could just stay in power and get it out of her.  Another thing that really helped was the dialogue that they had in the extract. I really like the dialogue because it shows and tells the audience a story and tells us a theme of the extract. This is the main part of the whole extract without the dialogue we probably wouldn’t get the story or the theme of the extract. This also due to the actors which really sold the whole thing thanks to the dialogue the extract really came out to be really good. The dialogue really expressed the whole mood of the story and theme. The next thing is diegetic  sound this helped the story and the intensity of the story because on example of the diegetic sounds is when the detective flipped the table over and it made a really loud noise and it made the whole room go silent, and it really made the story a very intense moment in the extract.
Another thing is the zoom this happened to mostly the girl because at the beginning it showed a zoom of her when the guy walked in and she had an uneasy look on her face and it shows that she was guilty of something but she wouldn’t tell anyone so she was very nervous that they might get the information from her and she didn’t want that to happen but you can tell whenever there was a zoom on her face it would show that she had an uneasy look on her face. The last thing is the props this helped the set to look real and make it look like they were actually in a detective room getting interview. The way the desk and chairs and the handcuffs all looked like the real deal it was very beneficial for the scene.
Overall all of these things were important in their own way. All of these things come together to make the theme and the story. Without these there wouldn’t be a theme and wouldn’t be a story. Its good to look at these thing and really understand how they come together and make an amazing theme.
